TyranoBuilder: The New Visual Novel on the Block

A long, long time ago, I made a blogpost on TyranoScript:

So, fast-forward to a couple of years later, and it has evolved into TyranoBuilder, a fully-functional visual novel creation suite. Do check it out on the link below:

I’ve compiled a list after nearly a week’s worth of testing on the Kirikiroid2 app for Android. Take note that this is for English-translated visual novels only. This is by no means complete; feel free to post a comment if you want to add on to the list.

How to Run Kirikiroid2 for Android

Last month I posted about Kirikiroid2, the KiriKiri2 emulator for Android devices:

Crysis99 from Fuwanovel shed some light on how to make it run properly. Credits to him:

Finally, we have a somewhat decent KiriKiri 2 engine for Android. I was browsing through Sakamoto's website, and came across one of his posts about it. I won't be talking much about it, but instead on how you can play the free version. The site has two different sites link for downloading, the Google play site and the Baidu site. At first, I didn't know, but there are two different versions, but after reading in the forums (It's mostly in Chinese), I found out why the baidu download didn't work. The two versions, the paid one in the Play Store, and the Ad-driven Chinese version. Chances are, (unless your phone is in Chinese), the app will crash if you try to launch the free version. That's because the developers intended it for the Play-Store-less China users. If you haven't guessed already, all you have to do to bypass this is simply change your language to 中文(简体) [Simplified Chinese], and perhaps also your region to China time (GMT+8:00, 中国标准时间).

So there you have it. I’ll be updating the previous post to reflect the changes; but in the meantime, enjoy running high-quality visual novels on your Android device.

Enable Access to All Japanese Visual Novel Sites

Ever tried going to a website to check out a visual novel (such as Alicesoft) and ended up getting this?

hola 1

Here’s an easy solution to bypass that, using “hola!”

1. Go to hola.org using your preferred browser.

2. Download the program/extension and follow the installation instructions.

3. Once done, change your server to Japan, and visit the visual novel site again.

4. You’ll get something like this:

hola 2

Happy surfing!

Kirikiroid2 for Android

Kirikiroid2 is an emulator to run KiriKiri2 visual novels on your Android device.

Link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.tvp.kirikiri2

How to run the free version .apk from baidu.com
1. Install the .apk file.
2. Under your phone settings, change your language to 中文(简体) [Simplified Chinese].
3. Change your region to China time (GMT+8:00, 中国标准时间).
4. Now you can run the app without crashing.

Games tested so far:
Lonely Yuri – runs well.
Tokyo Alice – runs well.
Koi iro Chu! Lips – runs well. The only catch is that if you save the game during a choice, then the choice will NOT appear when you load, and you will just get stuck there.
G-senjou no Maou – runs well with specific patch.

Intro videos run nicely as well.

You can find patches to run certain visual novels that have protected archives or effects otherwise not supported by Kirikiroid2 here:

Looks very promising so far. Here’s a sample video.

Testing Out New Service

I’m currently trying out a new service where I can help with requests to order doujins/games/others through websites such as DLSite Japan and DL.Getchu.com, which are notoriously hard to register  for gaijins due to the heavy amount of moonspeak. If you’re interested in getting something from these websites then do check out this link here:

DraStic DS Emulator for Android

DraStic is a paid Nintendo DS Emulator that had just been released recently. I had seen earlier beta videos of it and was very impressed with the speed. So when it was finally released I bought it and tested out some visual novels. Here’s the results using my Galaxy Note 1:

1. 999: Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors – Full speed.
2. Otometeki Koi Kakumei Love Revo!! (English-patched) – Full speed. (Otome gamers will love this)
3. Fatal Relations DS (Homebrew) – BGM doesn’t work. Otherwise runs full-speed.
4. Tokimeki Memorial Girl’s Side 2nd Season (English-patched) – Full speed (Otome gamers will love this too)
5. Really? Really! DS – Full speed.
6. Love Plus (English-patched) – Full speed.
7. Pokemon Ghost Black Retold (Homebrew) – Full speed.

Overall verdict: JUST BUY THIS.
